MEDFORD, MA. – The Wesleyan men's track and field team traveled north to Tufts University on Saturday morning to take part in the Cupid Challenge where the team saw 11 Top 10 performances as well as several personal records.
Starting off the day in the 800m, the Cardinals saw three finishes with
Nate Fogarty '25 leading the way with a third-place finish. Fogarty crossed the finish line with a 1:56.72 final and was followed by Robert D'Aquila '26 in fifth place with a new personal best 1:58.02 and
Thomas Chun '28 in 10
th with a final time of 2:02.32.
Placing 10
th in the 1000m,
Alex Lara '27 ran a clocked 2:37.64. The second distance race for the Cardinals included
Bruce Lenes '26 in seventh with a new personal best time of 8:41.20, nearly 10 seconds off his previous record.
The Cardinals had a second third-place finish in the shot put as
Javier Orellana '25 threw for 14.88m while
Rami Hayes-Messinger '26 placed ninth with a new personal record distance of 13.27.
Will Dollhopf '25 threw for 15.34m in the weight throw, placing fifth. Hayes-Messinger placed eighth behind Dollhopf with another personal best distance of 14.98m.
Jerry Gong '27 finished ninth in the long jump and closed the event at 5.77m.
Combining for one of the few relays that the Cardinals compete in, Fogarty, D'Aquila,
Luke Consolati '25, and
Daniel Manning '28 tore up the 4x400m relay, running a 3:38.67 and placed ninth.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Feb.14, and Saturday, Feb. 15, when they compete in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
