CLERMONT, Fla. – Just 24 hours into the start of the season, the Wesleyan softball is 4-0 and have outscored the competition 36-7 in those four games. Wesleyan picked up another two wins on Wednesday down in Florida, defeating Montclair State 10-2 in five innings and North Central (Ill.) 8-3. This marks the first time since 2010 that Wesleyan is 4-0 to start a season.
Â
Opening against Montclair State, the Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1
st and never looked back. The first three batters all reached safely, with
Cat Palmer '26 knocking in
Molly Lennon '26 with a single to center. Then with two runners in scoring position,
Abby Orso G'25 came through with a two-run single to center to spot herself a three-run lead.
Â
Orso escaped trouble in the bottom of the 1
st, getting an inning-ending strikeout with Montclair State having runners on third and second, then she again helped her own cause with a three-run bomb out to center field in the top of the 3
rd, making it 6-0 Wesleyan.
Â
After Orso's second home run in three games, the inning continued with three more Cardinal runs as a Montclair State error brought in another followed by a two-run double from Lennon out to left that made it 9-0.
Â
Montclair State tacked on unearned runs in the 3
rd and 4
th innings but Wesleyan was able to score another in the 5
th to restore an eight-run lead.

Â
Game two saw the Cardinals use a five-run 3
rd inning that proved the difference in an 8-3 win over North Central. Wesleyan's starter
Jacelyn Lees '28 did well to limit damage in the early going, as she left two runners stranded in scoring position in the 2
nd inning and only allowed one unearned run in the 3
rd, setting the stage for the five-run bottom half when the game flipped.
Â
Baker hit a leadoff double to right and came around to score as
Nicole Celi '27 also doubled to right field to tie the score. With Celi on third, Lennon drove her in and reached base on an error by the second baseman. Later with two outs in the inning, it was Orso again coming through, this time with an RBI single to left, but Lees helped her own cause with a crucial two-run single to center that made it 5-1 Wesleyan.
Â
Lennon made it 6-1 Cardinals with a two-out RBI single to plate Celi from second in the 4
th inning The Cardinals threatened another mercy rule win in the 6
th inning as
Ella DeCrescenzo '27 hit a pinch hit two-out two-run triple to center that plated Lennon and
Whitney Gigante '28.
Â
Leading 8-1 entering the 7
th inning, North Central scored twice but
Isabella Secaira-Cotto '25 finished the job with a game-ending double play.
