MIDDLETOWN, CT. – It was a Little Three showcase inside the Bacon Field House on Sunday morning as the No. 4 ranked Wesleyan women's tennis team put away a 5-2 win over No. 12 Amherst College in NESCAC action as Wesleyan wins their 11th in a row.

Going 2-0 over the weekend after a sweep of Hamilton on Saturday morning, the Cardinals (11-1 overall, 4-0 NESCAC) cruised to their 11th match win in a row having not dropped a game since the season opener.

Featuring as the No. 1 pairing for the Cardinals, Sarah Youngberg '26 and Lane Durkin '27 swept Deliala Friedman and Lily Dounchis in doubles action, clearing ahead to a 6-0 victory to kickstart the morning. Earning a win at No. 2, Jackie Soloveychik '27 and Natalia Leroy gave the Cardinals the go-ahead point to take doubles. The duo jumped to a three-game lead, but the Mammoths caught up and went point-for-point to tie the match. The tiebreak was no different, Soloveychik and Leroy claiming a 7-6 (8-6) win.

Lucinda Gatsiounis '28 had her work cut out for her in the form of Greta Stechschulte. Stechschulte gained an early lead in set one, but by game three Gatsiounis tied the set and ran for another five points. In set two, Gatsiounis held off her opponent with a two-point lead for the majority of the set, ultimately earning the 7-5, 6-4 win.

Forced to three sets after falling in set one, Leroy rallied from defeat tie her match up after set two and battled through a third set against Sophie Diop. Down by five, Leroy snatched five wins in a row to tie the set at six. Heading into the tiebreaker, Leroy dropped just one point on her way to a 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) final.

Following their doubles win at No. 1, Youngberg and Durkin each defeated the Mammoths to pick up three match points for the Cardinals. Facing Friedman for a second time at No. 3, Youngberg was quick to feed her worn down opponent and won 6-2, 6-2. Durkin filed into the lineup at No. 2 and was the last point of the match due to the confines of the indoor facility. Earning a 6-3, 6-3 victory, Durkin held a near three-point lead through both sets.

The Cardinals return to action on Sunday, April 6, when they travel down the road to Conn. College for a 2 p.m. matchup.
