No. 15 Men’s Tennis Dominates Singles in 5-2 Win at Bates

LEWISTON, ME. – Following a conference loss on Saturday afternoon, the Wesleyan men's tennis team rebounded with the eighth win of the season as they ran a 5-2 victory over Bates College on Sunday afternoon from the Merrill Gymnasium.

The Bobcats (4-12 overall, 2-6 NESCAC) claimed the first point of the match, winning two of the three doubles matches, and while the outcome may not have been what the Cardinals (8-4 overall, 4-3 NESCAC) had hoped for, the singles play rebound was enough to propel the team to victory.

Now playing as the No. 1, Harry Collomb '26 went three rounds with Phillippe Kosyagin, falling in set one. Matching Kasyagin's mark in set two to tie the match, Collomb strong armed his way to a second win and took the match 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Max Lustgarten '25 cleared a win at No. 2, making a quick go of Theo Sardain with a 6-2, 6-2 match victory.

Collomb was not the only Cardinal on the afternoon to go to a tiebreaker set as both Max Litton '26 and Brett Keeling '27 tussled at No. 3 and No. 4. Litton fell to Eric Diop in set one, winning consecutive sets after set three went to its own tiebreak, finishing at 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4). Facing Ben Adey, Keeling secured sets two and three to hold Adey off. Keeling walked away with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 final.

Finishing at No. 5, Chase Kasday '26 defeated James Sacco in a 6-2, 6-4 match final to close out the NESCAC matchup.

Kasday and Keeling were the lone doubles win as the No. 2 pairing, winning their set 6-3 over Adey and Evangelo Kapothanasis.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, April 19, when they host Trinity at 10 a.m.
