MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Representing Wesleyan women's hockey on the international stage for a third time, junior defender Aimee Seppenwolde finished out the International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) 2025 Division I Women's World Championship with Team Netherlands, earning two best player accolades while competing in Shenzhen, China.
As the tournament came to a close, Seppenwolde marked her time on the international circuit with five points, collecting a goal and four assists for the Dutch. Seppenwolde followed her three-assist performance against France with the opening goal against Denmark, cutting the Danes' lead in half in the first period of the 6-3 loss. Her efforts earned her the Player of the Game award as voted on by her team.
While the Netherlands finished last in the tournament without a win, Seppenwolde was a major contributor during the matchup against France. In the 8-3 loss, Seppenwolde assisted on all three goals against French goaltender Alice Philbert.
Team Netherlands selected Seppenwolde as the best player of the tournament, rewarding her endeavors as she returns to Wesleyan with another year of international success and recognition.
Seppenwolde previously competed with the Netherlands during the 2024 Division I championships as well as the 2023 World Championship in which the Dutch were the runners-up.
