AMHERST, MA. – The Wesleyan men's track and field team spent the weekend competing at the Amherst Spring Fling, finishing the competition with 13 Top 10 finishes on the day as they were led by
Ethan Singleton '28 and
Eli Liedtka '27 with two, top placements apiece.
Four of the 13 placements for the Cardinals came thanks to the efforts of Singleton and Liedtka across both track and field disciplines. Singleton placed eighth in the men's 100m, crossing the finish line with a 11.55 final time. Singleton followed his performance in the 100m with a 10
th place finish in the 400m, rounding out the Top 10 with 23.31. Liedtka placed eighth twice across the men's discus and the javelin throw. Liedtka's discus throw fell at 37.18m before he threw 41.43m in the javelin.
Carlo Fedolfi '27 finished ahead of Singleton in the 100m, crossing at 11.28 in third place, the top finish of the day for the team. In the 800m,
Rob D'Aquila '26 ran a 1:56.36 and earned a sixth place finish.
Beginning the distance races,
Bruce Lenes '26 placed ninth in the 1500m, running a 3:59.49. Two Cardinals earned top times in the 5000m,
Will Wise '26 finished in sixth place with a time of 15:07.86 while
Philip Keith '25 fell in three spots behind him in ninth with a final 15:34.82.
In the field events,
Daniel Bench '26 closed out a distance of 12.02m in the triple jump, placing eighth.
Javier Orellana '25 led the way with a top five placement in the shot put, placing fourth at a distance of 13.43. In the hammer throw,
James Giokaris '24 threw 49.18m and earned a placement of fifth.
Will Dollhopf '25 placed seventh at 48.29m.
The Cardinals will be in action on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, when they head to New London for the Silfen Invitational.
