AMHERST, MA. – It was an electrifying Saturday morning as senior
Liam Calhoun '26 crossed the finish line in first place, leading the way for the Wesleyan men's cross country team as they opened the season with a second-place team finish at the Little Three Championship.
Highlights:
- Calhoun's performance saw him cross the finish line at 18:37.4, ahead of the lines of Amherst and Williams as he shaved nearly a minute off his 2024 Little Three time with a new personal record for the 6k.
- Calhoun averaged a 4:59.7 mile.
- The Cardinals closed out the team portion of the race with a second-place finish, the program's highest finish since 2011.
- Dylan Cote '28 placed fifth, running a 19:07.5 final while Noah Mahoney '27 finished seventh with a 19:13.3.
- Zach Allen  '27 (19:45.4) placed 15th and Ben McKinney '27 (19:53.6) rounded out the Top 20.
- Williams won the championship with a score of 29 while Amherst placed third.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they host the Cardinal Invitational at 12 p.m.
