Women’s Hockey Falls to Williams, 4-1

MIDDLETOWN, CT. -  Lead by senior Dylan Green '26, the Wesleyan women's ice hockey team fell in NESCAC action 4-1 to Williams College on Friday night from Williams' Lansing Chapman Rink.

Kicking off some Little Three action, the Cardinals (2-8-0 overall, 2-5-1 NESCAC) made their move just past the midway mark of the first period, opening the scoring with Green's tally. Lilly Place '29 won the faceoff in the far-left corner, sending the puck directly back for Aimee Seppenwolde '26 and Caroline Humber '29 for the set up.

With under two minutes remaining the Cardinals were called for tripping, giving the Ephs (7-1-2 overall, 1-1-1 NESCAC) the extra skater on the power play. The Ephs capitalized, tying the game up at one as Jaelyn Keiver struck with a minute on the clock. Both teams would enter the second with equal opportunities on goal.

The Ephs followed up on the momentum in the second period, scoring two goals to take a 3-1 lead. Leah Rubinshteyn took the lead for the Ephs before the Cardinals were once again penalized, this time for checking. Lucie Bond would score the power-play goal to end the period. The Ephs struck one more in the third, Zoe Rosenberg earning credit on the goal.

Green led all offensive measures by the Cardinals with nine shots on goal and one block. From the draw, Amelia Molin '27 finished with 11 faceoff wins.

In goal, Sami Smith '27 finished the evening with 36 saves. Erin Pye earns the win with 29 saves for the Ephs.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Jan. 10, when they face Williams again in the second game of the weekend series beginning at 3 p.m.
