Hayden Hanes Named NESCAC Player of the Week

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Following a four-point weekend as Wesleyan men's hockey swept NESCAC competition, assistant captain Hayden Hanes '27 earns his first career NESCAC Player of the Week honors as announced by the conference office on Monday, Jan. 12.

Propelling to third in the NESCAC, the Cardinals made moves over the weekend, defeating Williams and Middlebury as they outscored both clubs at a 10-3 margin. The 6-1 conquest over the Ephs tied the largest winning margin for the Cardinals in series history.

Facing the Ephs on Friday night, Hanes tallied the third goal of the night, giving the Cardinals a 3-0 lead at the time. Hanes followed the performance on Saturday afternoon with a three-point game against the Panthers, scoring two goals in the span of less than four minutes, one of which fell as the game-winning goal. Prior to his first goal, Hanes assisted on Jack Marottolo's opening goal.

The previous Player of the Week honor for the Cardinals was teammate Ethan Davidson in 2023.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Jan. 16, when they face Colby on the road at 7 p.m.
