STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Led by a second-place finish from senior
Liam Calhoun, the Wesleyan men's track and field team opened the long weekend with the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday night, competing against 25 schools across the Mid-Atlantic.
RESULTS
HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Cardinals saw high finishes in the men's mile run with Calhoun topping the performances in second place with a final time of 4:17.71. Filing in behind Calhoun was Bruce Lenes '26 in third place, crossing the finish line at 4:19.40. Alex Kermath '26 was ninth at 4:23.07.
- Placing seventh, Noah Mahoney '27 ran a 8:41.80 in the 3,000 meter.
- The distance medley relay team secured second place for the Cardinals with a combined 10:26.40.
- In the field events, Rami Hayes-Messinger '26 placed fourth in the men's weight throw as he threw for 15.23 meters.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Jan. 24, when they host the Wesleyan Indoor Invite II beginning at 10 a.m.
