MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Senior guard
Sam Pohlman '26 of the Wesleyan men's basketball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is Pohlman's first career Player of the Week nod while he is the second Cardinal in the past three weeks to earn the league's POW award.
Pohlman was incredible all throughout the first half on Saturday, scoring or assisting on the first eight Wesleyan baskets while Pohlman made his first seven shot attempts, including four from 3-point range. The senior scored 20 of his game-high 22 points before halftime while adding four assists and four rebounds in Wesleyan's 64-62 win over Trinity that snapped the Bantams' 32-game winning streak and knocked off the top-ranked team in the nation.
Wesleyan has another big weekend ahead with a Friday night showdown in Medford in a battle between the two lone remaining undefeated teams in NESCAC play as the Cardinals and Jumbos are both 5-0 in NESCAC play this year.
