MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's squash team was taken down by No. 16 ranked Amherst in a 9-0 loss on Saturday from the Rosenbaum Squash Center. The Cardinals (6-6) see their three-match unbeaten run come to an end while the Mammoths (9-3) secure their first Little Three title since 1999.
The Cardinals gave the Mammoths a tough match on several courts, with seven varsity matches requiring at least 30 minutes to finish while four needed 40+ minutes.
Dominic Wilson '29 was locked in a back-and-forth tussle with Fares Khairy at #3, earning a 12-10 win in the fourth game to send the match into a fifth-game decider that Khairy came out on top in a 11-4 win. The match needed 59 minutes to finish.
Wesleyan took one game off Amherst at #8 and #9 with
Nimai Kini '26 securing a win in the first game at #8 before Robert Avram rallied with three straight game wins.
Sumer Singh Ahluwalia '27 also won a game at #9 against Render Ford but fell 12-10, 9-11, 9-11, 5-11 in a 45-minute contest.
Wesleyan celebrated its two-player senior Class of 2026 prior to the match as Kini and
Zack Idinopulos '26 were both honored prior to the start of play.
The Cardinals are back in action on Sunday at Noon against No. 24 Bates in Middletown.
