Women’s Hockey Sweeps Conn. with 4-1 Conquest at Home

MIDDLETOWN, CT. -  Sweeping a whirlwind weekend series, the Wesleyan women's hockey team closed the door on the regular season meetings with Conn. College on Saturday afternoon, turning out a 4-1 NESCAC victory on home ice at Spurrier-Snyder Arena.

In much the same fashion as Friday night's matchup, the Cardinals (4-13-2 overall, 2-9-1 NESCAC) found themselves on the defensive early with the Camels (6-10-2 overall, 2-9-1 NESCAC) back firing on all cylinders. Aimee Seppenwolde '26 silenced the noise at the midway mark, floating the puck behind Devin Galizio from above the far circle with assists awarded to Bree Anderson '29 and Lilly Place '29.

The Cardinals held the one-goal lead through the second period as they went shot for shot with the Camels. Jenna Guglielmi '27 stood tall through three power plays awarded to the Camels, returning 11 saves as the clock ran into the final period.

Scoring her first career goal as a Cardinal, Kimberly Jung '27 opened the third situated in the same position as Seppenwolde above the far circle. Beats Tura's '27 pass from the blueline found Jung wide open. Amelia Molin '27 earned the secondary assist. A cross-checking call on the Cardinals gave way to the Camels' lone goal, Emma Peterson taking credit.

Handed their own cross-checking call, the Camels pulled Galizio with just a minute on the clock and left Caroline Kee '26 unattended for the empty-net goal from Carly Ward '27 and Molin. With four seconds remaining in regulation, Caroline Humber tipped the puck over the line at the right post from Dylan Green '26.

Green led all Cardinals with five shots and two blocks. Tura recorded four blocks, a team high. From the faceoff circle, Place won a season-high 17 draws.

In goal, Guglielmi stopped 36 shots as Galizio finished the evening with 25.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Feb. 7, when they travel to Salve Regina for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
