Green Shines on Senior Day as Cardinals Rebound to 3-1 Triumph over Trinity in Season Finale

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – The Senior Day send off for the Wesleyan women's ice hockey team was nothing short of a spectacular Saturday afternoon as Wesleyan answered Trinity College's Friday night win with their own 3-1 NESCAC victory in the regular season finale as Dylan Green and Lilly Place '29 led the way with points on all three goals inside Spurrier-Snyder Arena.

Green's performance was just one of the highlights of the afternoon as the Cardinals paid tribute to the five-woman senior class. Green, Caroline Kee, Aiko Sims, and captains Sam Galanek and Aimee Seppenwolde received their flowers for their contributions to the program and Wesleyan University.

The opening period gave way to a scoreless bout of 20 minutes with both teams forced to defend with five penalties called. The Bantams (6-14-3 overall, 3-10-3 NESCAC) staved off three Cardinal (7-15-2 overall, 4-11-1 NESCAC) power plays before the end of the period but still managed to hold the offensive edge.

With nearly eight minutes of play underway in the second, the Cardinals struck off the stick of Green, breaking out what would be the first of three goals. After the Bantams won the faceoff, the Cardinals redirected possession in their own zone with Place and Seppenwolde scooping the puck down and around Jenna Guglielmi '27 in goal for Green on the rush.

Riddled with a combined seven penalties, the second period saw a second goal from the Cardinals, this time a short-handed goal while serving a tripping penalty late in regulation. Green forced a turnover at the blueline and took off for Bantams' goaltender Madeline Carter, her shot saved and deflected to the stick of Place before Beats Tura '27 snapped the puck over Carter's shoulder.

Entering the final period with a two-goal lead, Seppenwolde cleared a third goal for the Cardinals to help further secure the win. Seppenwolde's quick passing with Green and Place down the middle set up the senior's shot from above the crease. The Bantams eventually answered, cutting the final score to a two-goal lead.

Green led all Cardinals with five shots on goal with Seppenwolde finishing the afternoon with three blocked shots.

In goal, Guglielmi finished with 32 saves for the Cardinals while Carter was credited with 14 saves for the Bantams.

The Cardinals await NESCAC seeding for the NESCAC Championship.
