CLERMONT, Fla. – The Wesleyan softball team saw their five-game win streak halted on Saturday as the Cardinals lost both games in a doubleheader at Legends Way in Florida. Wesleyan was defeated 4-0 by Dominican (Illinois) in game one before suffering a 9-4 defeat to Babson in game two.

The Cardinal offense, which had produced 10+ hits in four of the previous five games coming into Saturday, couldn't get much going against Liberty Rivard of Dominican who held Wesleyan to just three hits in a complete game shutout.

Wesleyan had a chance to get a run across in the 1
st as
Molly Lennon '26 led off with a walk before
Rebecca Cassel-Siskind '26 singled to center. The next three batters, however, all retired in-order to keep the game scoreless.

Dominican followed with a three-run bottom of the 1
st, producing three straight run-scoring hits, all with two outs. Wesleyan starting pitcher
Ella DeCrescenzo '27 left two runners on in the 2
nd inning but Dominican added another run in the 3
rd to extend their lead to 4-0.

The Cardinals had a last-gasp attempt in the top of the 6
th, loading the bases with two outs, but
Waverly Smart '27 grounded out to second to end the threat.

Game two featured plenty of hits as Wesleyan and Babson combined for 25 hits and 14 runs. Babson struck first with one run in the 3
rd but Wesleyan followed with a two-run bottom of the 3
rd to take the lead. Lennon lifted a two-run homer out to center to score
Katie Foley '28 from first.

The Beavers had a quick answer, scoring four on four hits in the top of the 4
th, before the Cardinals answered back with a two-run single from Foley in the bottom of the 4
th. Wesleyan had a chance for more in the 4
th, loading the bases with two outs, but Babson escaped with an inning-ending strikeout.

Babson added one run in the 5
th while the Cardinals again stranded multiple runners in scoring position in the bottom half. The Beavers added three insurance runs in the 7
th to hold a 9-4 lead. Wesleyan tacked on one run in the bottom half but couldn't get closer, taking a 9-5 defeat.

Lennon went 2-for-3 with one home run, one walk, and two RBI. Foley finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and
Sam Chappell '28 went 2-for-4.

The Cardinals take an off day on Sunday before resuming play on Monday with a doubleheader against UChicago and Smith.
