CLERMONT, Fla. – The Wesleyan softball team dropped both ends of a Tuesday doubleheader in what was the final day of competition for the Cardinals in Florida for the team's annual Spring Break trip. The Cardinals fell to No. 14 Wisconsin-Whitewater 5-3 and Wellesley 6-0 and fly back to Middletown with a 6-5 record.

Facing off against a Top 25 ranked team in Wisconsin-Whitewater in game one, the Cardinals held Warhawks scoreless through four innings and took a 1-0 lead in the 5
th. Wesleyan starting pitcher
Jacelyn Lees '28 worked her way through a potent lineup, leaving at least one runner stranded in each of the first four innings.

The Cardinals took the lead in the 5
th as the first three batters in the inning all reached base.
Waverly Smart '27 reached first on an error, then advanced to second on a
Whitney Gigante '28 walk. Pinch hitter
Naomi Tesoriere '29 came through with a clutch RBI single to left center that plated Smart from second.

Heading into the bottom of the 5
th, Lees retired two of the first three batters but couldn't finish off the frame as Grace Grabowy legged out an infield single then Dani Peshia came through with a go-ahead two-run double to right center. Emma Giese followed with an infield single to third and it was 3-1 Warhawks.

Whitewater tacked on two more runs in the 6
th, leading 5-1 heading into the 7
th where the Cardinals made it interesting.
Molly Lennon '26 sent a two-run triple out to right center with two outs, putting the game-tying run at the plate, but
Sam Chappell '28 flied out to center to end a back-and-forth contest.

In the nightcap against Wellesley, the Cardinals couldn't solve Sarah Wicker in the circle as the Blue starting pitcher Sarah Wicker who had a no-hitter going through 4.1 innings. Wicker finished the game with just one hit and one walk allowed.

Ella DeCrescenzo '27 retired Wicker on an inning-ending strikeout in the top of the 3
rd with Wellesley having the bases loaded. The Blue then found an answer in the 4
th with a three-run inning coming on two hits and one error. Wesleyan stranded two runners in the bottom of the 4
th and Wellesley added two more runs in the 6
th and one more in the 7
th before Wicker finishing the game off by striking out the side in the bottom of the 7
th.

Wesleyan is back in action with a quick road trip to Maine as the Cardinals travel to face Bowdoin for a NESCAC-opening doubleheader on Friday starting at Noon.
