MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Taken to the wire on a rainy day inside the Bacon Field House, the No. 24 Wesleyan men's tennis team dropped a NESCAC match to No. 18 Williams College on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-3 in the first of two weekend matchups for Wesleyan.
Leading the way for the Cardinals,
Chase Kasday '26 and
Ryuto Saito '29 cleared wins on the singles circuit following a victory as the No. 2 doubles duo. The pair helped whisk the Cardinals to a 1-0 lead with a 6-4 win over Carter Fayard and William Luke along with
Max Litton '26 and Brett Keeling's '27 6-3 defeat of Anthony Lim and Robert Cooper at No. 3.
Kasday played out a gritty match as the No. 4, reeling through three sets following early injury setback in set one. While Lim picked up the 7-6 set one win, Kasday threw down to tie the match and force a third set, ultimately crowned the winner in a 6-7, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 victory.
Slotted in at No. 2, Saito took little time to put away Nicholas Chen with a 6-2, 6-3 final for the freshmen as the Cardinals held a tied-up match.
The Cardinals will face No. 10 Middlebury on Sunday, March 8, beginning at 10 p.m.
