Jim Panczykowski enters his 11th season as an assistant coach for the men’s ice hockey program at Wesleyan for the 2018-19 campaign.
During the 2010-11 year, the Cattaraugus, N.Y. native helped lead the Cardinals to their first-ever NESCAC playoff victory with a 5-2 win over top-seeded Hamilton in the quarterfinals. During the 2016-17 campaign, he was an active member of the coaching staff during the Cardinals’ 13-9-4 season – highlighted by a 7-7-4 conference record, and a thrilling 5-4 win over second-seeded Colby in the quarterfinals of the postseason tournament.
A 2004 Wesleyan graduate, Panczykowski was a four-year goalie for the men's ice hockey squad, making 68 career starts. He boasted 2,191 saves, along with a 3.43 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage.
During his time in Middletown, Conn., he was named to the All-NESCAC Second Team and the New England Hockey Writers Division III All-Star Team, as well as being selected to play in the ECAC Division III East-West Senior All-Star Game in 2004. He also received the Joe Concannon award as the top Division III, American-born ice hockey player in New England as a senior.
Panczykowski had a brief professional career with a minor league ice hockey squad in New Haven, Conn., following graduation. He currently serves as the vice president of Northeast Operations (Connecticut and New York) for Binswanger, an industrial real estate firm.
