Kristyn Ryan enters her first year as an assistant coach for the softball program at Wesleyan in 2018.
Ryan is a 2017 graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in health sciences. She excelled as a four-year softball player (2014-17) in Willimantic, Conn., playing catcher and representing the team as a designated player.
The Barkhamsted, Conn. resident helped the Warriors win the Little East Conference (LEC) regular-season championship during the 2014, 2015 and 2017 seasons, as she was named to the All-LEC Second Team as a designated player at the conclusion of her senior campaign. During the 2015 campaign, the Warriors won the LEC Championship, and reached the NCAA Division III Tournament.
While at Eastern Connecticut, Ryan was named to the Dean’s List and received Scholar-Athlete recognition, while serving on the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) from 2015-17.
During the 2016-17 year, Ryan served as an intern for the Eastern Connecticut softball program, developing scouting reports, and analyzing statistics for opponents. She also watched film to evaluate skills and abilities of players, while organizing fundraising activities.
Since 2012, Ryan has served in head and assistant-coach roles for Team Xtreme, as she coordinates practices and games, encourages competitive drive, and teaches the fundamentals of softball to varying age groups.
In addition to playing softball during her undergraduate years, Ryan volunteered with some great causes, including the Poverty Awareness Run, Autism Speaks Walk, Special Olympics, Plunge for Hunger and Feed the Children.
