Keira Goin enters her first season as an assistant coach for the women’s ice hockey program at Wesleyan during the 2017-18 season.
She was a standout goalie from 2013-17 at Utica College, as she holds program records in wins (40) and shutouts (13). During her junior campaign, she compiled seven shutouts and rattled off four in a row, which are both school records. She backstopped the Pioneers to a program-best, 19-win campaign during the 2015-16 year.
The Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. native finished her career with a 1.75 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage, as she compiled a career-high 55 saves during a 4-2 triumph over visiting Plattsburgh State on Feb. 13, 2016.
Goin, who currently plays for the Connecticut Whale of the National Women’s Hockey League, was honored by the Utica Athletic Department during the spring 2017 semester with the Jim “Doc” Spartano Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete Award, which is an honor based around education, teamwork, leadership, loyalty, perseverance and sportsmanship.
A three-time ECAC West All-Academic Team selection (2015-17), Goin maintained a 3.80 GPA during her time in college, while also being a two-time ECAC West Honorable Mention selection (2016-17) and an All-Rookie Team honoree in 2013-14.
Additionally, the outstanding athlete played at the club level for the Mid-Fairfield Connecticut Stars U19 Tier I (2012-13), the Connecticut Polar Bears U16 Tier I (2010-11) and the New Jersey Selects U19 Tier I (2006-10). She was on a pair of national-qualifying teams during her club career, first with the Polar Bears in 2011, and then with the Stars in 2013.
A 2013 graduate of The Hotchkiss School, Goin suited up for the Bearcats’ ice hockey team (2010-13) and softball squad (2010-13).
Goin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in publication relations, with a concentration in sports communication, from Utica in May 2017.
In June, she started working as a broadcast event logger for the MLB Network in Secaucus, N.J., as she also worked as a WIBX 950 Producer in Rome, N.Y., and a social media coordinator for GGSU in Chicago, Ill., during her time as an undergraduate.
