RESULTS
HARTFORD, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's crew team opened its 2021 fall season by taking a runner-up finish in the men's open 8 while also capturing a win in the novice 4 event at the Riverfront Regatta on Sunday morning.
"Today was a very focused team effort after a long layoff from fall races," said Wesleyan head coach
Phil Carney. "The crews raced hard and their efforts were truly representative of their work every day in practice. We are excited about where we stand at this early checkpoint in the year, and look forward to the challenges that lie ahead in Boston and Saratoga."
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Wesleyan's top varsity boat was the second place finisher in a field of 15 teams as the group clocked in at 13:54.13, finishing behind only Tufts' lead varsity boat by less than six seconds
- The second varsity boat was the ninth-fastest on the day, recording a final time of 15:00.64
- In the men's open novice 4, the Cardinals recorded a win, defeating boats from UConn, URI and Bowdoin as the all-freshmen crew clocked in a 15:46.72
