MANCHESTER, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's cross country team competed in the 2021 NESCAC Championship on Saturday afternoon. Trinity served as the host school as the competition was held locally just 30 minutes from campus at Wickham Park in Manchester. Williams claimed their 19
th overall NESCAC title, scoring 51 points to take home the win. Middlebury was just eight points behind, as the Panthers took the runner-up spot while Colby finished in third. The Cardinals took 10
th place with 248 points.
Owen Rogers '24 was the fastest Cardinal in his first-ever NESCAC Championship race, clocking in at 26:26.40 to place 32
nd overall on a course that had no time to recover from nearly 24 hours straight of rain on Saturday.
Will Ratner '22 was the next to finish for Wesleyan, placing 43
rd with a time of 26:37.6. For Ratner, this marked a significant improvement as this was easily his highest finish in his third career NESCAC Championship appearance (previous best was 101
st in 2019).
Miles Aronow '22 was the third-fastest Wesleyan runner on the day, clocking in at 26:48.50, a new personal-record 8k time for the senior as that PR gave him 49
th place overall.
Dale Ross '22 posted a time of 27:09.4, fourth-best on the team and good enough for 66
th place. Ross previously finished 151
st (2018) and 104
th (2019) in his two prior NESCAC Championship runs.
Jasper Shapiro '23 claimed 83
rd place with a time of 27:30.6 while
Philip Keith '25 (27:58.1; 102
nd place) and
Aidan Ward '24 (28:10.40; 109
th place) rounded out the scoring for Wesleyan.
The championship portion of the schedule continues in two weekends as the Cardinals head to Harkness Park in Waterford for the NCAA Mideast Regional on Saturday, November 13.
