MEDFORD, Mass. – The Wesleyan men's track & field team traveled to Tufts to take part in the Cupid Challenge on Saturday.
Christian Denny '22 posted a tremendous result in the 60m as he was the second-fastest in preliminaries out of 37 sprinters with a time of 7.04 seconds. He followed that up with a career-best time of 7.02 seconds to earn a runner-up finish. The senior added a fifth place finish in the 200m, crossing the line in 23.04 seconds.
Wesleyan saw a pair earn Top 10 results in the 400m as
Sam Musto '24 placed sixth out of 23 with a time of 52.38 seconds while
Will Ruden-Sella '25 was right behind in eighth place as he clocked in with a season-best time of 52.57 seconds.
The Cardinals were well-represented in the one mile and
Will Ratner '22 was fastest among Wesleyan's contingent as his career-best time of 4:22.76 earned him seventh place out of 32.
George Lepska '25 also showed well with an eighth place finish and season-best time of 4:24.11.
Another career-best time for a Cardinal saw
Dale Ross '22 post 8:44.88 in the 3000m which was good enough for seventh place out of 44 runners.
Nate Fogarty '25 placed third in his first career 1000m appearance, clocking in at 2:36.73.
Nick Carulli '22 clocked in at 8.85 seconds in the 60m hurdles finals to take fourth place out of nine competitors.
Wesleyan's top 4x400m relay group (Ruden-Sella,
Griffin Maristany '22, Musto and
Emmett Perry '25) earned a solid third place finish out of eight teams with a time of 3:30.66.
Nick Helbig '23 threw 13.73m in the weight throw, a new personal-best, to take eighth place out of 28 throwers.
Connell Oberman '22 managed a career-best throw of 10.61m in the shot put.
The Cardinals will take the next week to prepare for the Gordon Kelly Invite hosted by MIT next Saturday, February 12.
