Distance Runners Lead Men’s Track & Field in Season-Opening Winter Invite

Cardinals earn wins in the 800m, one mile, and 3000m events

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The distance runners highlighted what was a great day of competition for the Wesleyan men's track & field team, as the Cardinals landed wins in the 800m, one mile, and 3000m events at the Wesleyan Winter Invite hosted on Saturday in the Bacon Field House. Luke Consolati '25 led a contingent of five Cardinals in the 800m, placing first overall with a time of 2:01.55. Simon Chidley '25 (2:02.64), Owen Zinn-Keane '26 (2:02.67), Alex Lara '27 (2:04.73), and Alex Geula '25 (2:04.89) all showed well in the race that featured five Cardinals out of six total runners in the field.
 
The distance runners continued to show well as Noah Mahoney '27, Bruce Lenes '26, and Aidan Ward '24 finished first, second, and third, respectively, in the one mile. Mahoney posted a time of 4:31.37 while Lenes was right behind at 4:31.86. Ward followed with his time of 4:35.80.
 
Sam Aronow '26 earned a first place finish in the 3000m with his time of 9:23.87. Jude Mourad '27 was third in the same event, crossing the line in 9:26.49.
 
Carlo Fedolfi '27 impressed in his collegiate debut, posting the second-fastest preliminary time in the 60m dash at 7.28 seconds. He then placed third in the finals, fastest among all first-years, with a time of 7.21 seconds. Fedolfi also placed sixth in the 200m with a time of 23.55 seconds.
 
Also showing well in the 200m was Kyle Roshankish '24 as he crossed the line in 23.95 seconds, good enough for 12th place out of 32 sprinters. Roshankish was the runner-up in the 400m, posting a time of 54.49 seconds.
 
Wesleyan's 4x400m relay team of Zinn-Keane, Consolati, Geula, and Lara finished second out of five teams, clocking in at 3:38.37.
 
Anish Visht '24 earned a runner-up finish in the pole vault with a mark of 3.65m. Jerry Gong '27 was the best performer for Wesleyan in the long jump at 5.71m, finishing 11th overall. Josh Ng '27 also showed well with a 5.61m mark in the same event.
 
Javier Orellana '25 picked up a new personal-best throw in the shot put, going for 14.21m to earn a third place finish out of 24 competitors.
 
Will Dollhopt '25 was third-best in the weight throw with his mark of 13.97m. Harry Kim '25 clocked in at 7.61 seconds, placing 12th in the 60m.
 
Wesleyan is back in action on Saturday, January 13 with the Little Three Championship held in Bacon Field House.
