BOSTON, MA. – The Wesleyan women's track & field team competed in Boston at the Valentine Invitational over the weekend. The Valentine Invitational consisted of a plethora of athletes from all three divisions and spanned from February 10
th to the 11
th. They had a handful of quality performances by competitors, headlined by
Grace Devanny '23 who broke her own indoor records in the 200 and 400 meters.
Devanny had an impressive weekend in Boston, competing in 200 meters, 400 meters, and being apart of the 4 x 400 relay team. Her best finish came in the 200 meters, where she ran a time of 24.42 that beat her previous record-time of 25.19. Her record time placed her 1
st among D III athletes in the event and 6
th among the 251 individuals who competed in the event. Her second school record of the weekend came in the 400 meters where she crossed the line at 55.26, trumping her prior school record of 56.54. Devanny also finished in the top 10 in that event, coming in 9
th and once again 1
st among D III competitors. The senior sprinter finished off her impressive two days in Massachusetts by competing in the 4 x 400 relay, helping her team to a 26
th place finish among 49 teams with a time of 3:57.50.
Augusta Burhans '23 also competed in the 200 meters, placing 107
th with a time of 25.95 while also being apart of the 4 x 400 relay team.
Gabby Harris '23 was also a part of that relay team that placed in the top 30, taking 126
th in the 200 meters with a time of 26.22.
Kenzie Kelly '25 finished off the quartet that participated in the 4 x 400 relay. Kelly competed in the 200 meters as well, coming in 144
th crossing the line at 26.49.
Maeve Hoffman '23 was the only Cardinal to compete in the 800 meters, coming in at 2:16.80 that was good for 122
nd out of 248 competitors.
Stephanie Ager '26 competed in the event as a freshman, coming in 245
th place in the 3000 meters (10:24.59) out of 283 competitors that finished the event.
Miranda Graves '23 closed it out for the Cardinals with an impressive showing in the 5000 meters. The senior distance runner came in 30
th out of 69 athletes to finish the event (17:58.90).
Women's track & field will return to competition next weekend, February 18
th where they will compete in the Brown University Invite in Providence, Rhode Island.
