Sarah Youngberg '26 of the Wesleyan women's tennis team went on a thrilling run to the final round of the singles flight in the ITA New England Regional hosted by Wesleyan for the first time in program history. Youngberg earns an automatic bid to the ITA Cup which will take place October 12-16 in Rome, Georgia.
Youngberg started her run to the finals with back-to-back sweeps over Lejla Guster of Endicott (6-3, 6-0) and Pan Manataweewat of Springfield (6-0, 6-1). The sophomore earned a quarterfinal bid in a walk-over win, setting up a showdown against the top seed and reigning NCAA Singles runner-up, Olivia Soffer of Babson. In what was a three-set thriller, Youngberg pulled out a massive 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 10-5 win to reach Sunday's final round action.

Starting Sunday morning with a semifinal clash with Shepherd Johnson of MIT, Youngberg dominated with a 6-2, 6-3 win, earning her place in the final. Having to face Babson's #2 Matia Cristiani, Youngberg saw her run come to an end in a 6-0, 6-3 defeat in the final.

Two other Cardinals advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles draw, as
Leila Epstein '26 and
Lane Durkin '27 both won three matches to reach that stage. Epstein started with a near flawless 6-1, 6-0 win over Charis Vogler of Nichols before taking a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win over Amy Cui of Amherst on Friday. Epstein took down another NESCAC foe in Rachel Cranley of Tufts (7-6 (7-3), 6-0) before seeing her run come to an end in a 6-2, 6-1 loss to the eventual champion Cristiani.

Durkin had a great showing in her first career ITA Regional appearance, opening with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Chahana Budhbhatti of Brandeis. Durkin followed that up with a straight set win over Julia Ross of Bowdoin before pulling out a three-set thriller (4-6, 6-2, 10-5) over Sophie Diop of Amherst in the round of 16. The first-year's run ended late on Saturday with a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Sahana Raman of Middlebury in the quarterfinal round.

Two Cardinal first-years picked up wins in the singles flight, with
Alexandra Burnett '27 defeating Mia Thomann of Williams 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 while
Jackie Soloveychik '27 was victorious over Bhakti Parwani of Brandeis (4-6, 6-4, 10-5).

In doubles action, Durkin and Burnett led the way with a quarterfinal run as the tandem defeated Kamila Stasiowska and Marina Campos of Babson 8-1 before knocking off Cara Hung and Zoe Sun of Bowdoin 8-6 in the round of 16. The first-year duo was defeated by the second-seed team of Raman and Amy Delman of Middlebury 8-5 in the quarterfinal stage.

Youngberg and Epstein took down Ally Friedman and Julia Anderson of Bates in the round of 32 by a score of 8-6 while Soloveychik and
Macie Carlos '27 won 8-4 over Drew Williams and Iris Westmorland of Bates in the round of 64.
