SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Wesleyan women's swimming & diving team opened the season with a tri-meet at Springfield featuring the Pride and No. 6 ranked Williams. The Cardinals finished in third place at the meet, falling to Springfield 172-127 and to the Ephs 215-79.
The Cardinals were led by
Olivia Stevenson '25 who landed a third-place finish in the 1000 free (11:16.75) and also placed fourth in the 500 free (5:31.13).
Mia Dezelic '27 put in a good performance in the 100 back, clocking in at 1:00.28 to take third-place out of 11 swimmers. Dezelic finished just 0.07 seconds off the runner-up from Williams and was 0.13 seconds ahead of Williams' third-fastest swimmer in the event.
Elena Baird '26 turned in a third and fourth place finish in the 200 fly and 1000 free, respectively. She finished the 200 fly in 2:18.30 and posted a time of 11:23.09 in the 1000 free.
Anne Conway '26 placed fifth in the 100 fly at 1:03.46 while she was sixth in the 200 free (2:05.45).
Danielle Eforo '25 was fourth in both the 200 fly (2:24.71) and 200 IM (2:24.56).
In her Cardinal debut,
Keira Walsh '28 finished sixth in the 200 free (2:05.45) and sixth in the 200 back (2:19.89).
Another first-year in
Ella Hall '28 led the way in the diving events for Wesleyan as she posted a 213.60 to take fourth place out of 14 in the 1-meter while she followed with a 197.80 in the 3-meter to place seventh.
As a team, Wesleyan took second place in the 400 free relay, as a team of Conway, Eforo, Walsh, and Dezelic clocked in at 3:49.26.
Wesleyan is back in action on Saturday as they play host to Bates for a dual meet at 1 PM
