MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Wesleyan volleyball seniors Michelle Jorba '25 and Bianca Gonya '25 both earned All-Region 1 First Team and Honorable Mention All-American honors, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Both honors are career-firsts for Jorba and Gonya.

A two-time All-NESCAC honoree, Jorba closed out her career with a career year in 2024, racking up single-season career highs in kills (231), attack pecentage (.268), digs (50), total blocks (64), and points (270.5) while playing all 25 matches for the Cardinals. She led the team in kills, producing 10 matches with 10+ kills this season, matching her career high (17) in both matches against Trinity. She produced the best match of her career in a regular season sweep of the Bantams, totaling 17 kills in 30 attempts, hitting .533 with just one attack error.

Gonya was outstanding on both ends of the floor this season, producing the best statistical season from a Cardinal middle in decades. For the year, Gonya played all 25 matches and established career highs across the board in kills (129), attack percentage (.349), aces (11), digs (57), total blocks (107), and points (212). Gonya's .349 attack percentage was easily the best in the NESCAC, as the next-closest player hit .319. The 107 total blocks led all NESCAC players and is the highest single-season total by a Wesleyan player since Erin Reding '06 had 124 total blocks back in 2005.
