BOSTON, MA. – Leading the way for the Wesleyan women's swimming and diving team,
James LaCroix '27 placed in the Top 30 in three individual events, swimming personal-best times as Wesleyan competed at the Boston University Winter Open on Friday, Feb. 9, and Saturday Feb. 10 from Boston University's Aquatics Center.
Swimming a season best in the 500-yard freestyle, LaCroix placed 16
th with a final time of 5:32.79. Following in the 200-yard freestyle, LaCroix clocked a time of 2:04.58, another season-best time, as he finished in 26
th place. LaCroix's final time of 56.81 in the 100-yard freestyle was another season-best and was good for 30
th.
In the 50-yard freestyle,
Caitlin Chang '25 placed 42
nd with a time of 26.18. In 46
th,
Meera Pawale '25 swam a final 27.06.
Chang took nineth place in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:11.66.
Mackenzie Hopkins '27 finished behind Chang in 10
th place, coming in at a season and personal best time at 1:14.05. In 12
th, Pawale also swam a season and personal best time of 1:20.09.
Following LaCroix in the 100-yard free, Change placed 35
th at 57.36 and Pawale was 39
th with a final 59.09.
Hopkins swam another best time of 2:40.50 in the 200-yard breaststroke for fifth place. In a time trial for the 50-yard freestyle, Hopkins put out a best time of 26.60.
A relay team of LaCroix, Chang, Hopkins, and Pawale, combined for a final 1:59.03 in the 200-yard medley relay for 12th place.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Feb. 16, through Sunday, Feb. 18, as they compete in the NESCAC Championships at Middlebury.
