WATERVILLE, Me. – The Wesleyan women's swimming & diving team completed the first two days of the 2025 NESCAC Championships hosted by Colby College. The Cardinals sit in 11
th place after the first two nights of finals with 196 team points.
The first night of action saw one event take place and Wesleyan performed well as the 800 free relay team of
Danielle Eforo '25,
Zoe Kuhn '26,
Mia Dezelic '27, and
Olivia Stevenson '25 completed the event in 7:45.88, which was good enough for eighth place overall.
Friday's full day of events opened with the 200 free relay wherein Wesleyan's top team of
Izzy Paez '26, Eforo,
Kate Briegel '25, and Stevenson clocked in at 1:39.83 to take 11
th place.
The top individual finisher on the day was Stevenson in the 500 free where she took part in the consolation final and finished in 5:09.19, good enough for 15
th place overall. Kuhn came through with a win in the 50 free pre-consolation final, holding off the field with a time of 24.09 seconds, giving her a 17
th place finish in the event.
Sara Bohacek '26 qualified for the 50 breast pre-consolation final and raced to a second place finish in that heat, taking 18
th place overall with a time of 30.30 seconds. Dezelic placed 19
th in the 200 IM (third-best in the pre-consolation final) with a time of 2:09.44. Paez competed in the 50 fly pre-consolation final and touched the wall in 26.55 seconds.
Ella Hall '28 led the Cardinals in the 1-meter dive, scoring 331.80 to finish in 12
th place out of 23. Rounding out the day in the 400 medley relay, Dezelic, Bohacek, Paez, and Kuhn combined for a 10
th place finish with a time of 3:53.81.
Competition resumes on Saturday with a full slate of action starting at 10 AM from Colby.
