George Lepska Ties School Record in 800m

NORTHAMPTON, MA. – The Wesleyan men's track and field team made a showing at the Carla Coffey Invitational at Smith College on Friday and Saturday afternoon, led by George Lepska '25 as he tied the Wesleyan 800m record set in 1990. Wesleyan brought home 23 Top 20 finishes.

RESULTS

George Lepska, leading a pack of Cardinals in the 800m race, tied the school record time of 1:53.15, good enough for fifth place in the event as he ran along Stirling Ince's 1990 record time. Rob D'Aquila '26 was 15th at a personal best 1:58.36. Alex Guela '25 was 18th at 1:59.51. Ben Taffet '26 was 18th at 2:00.14. And Luke Consolati '25 was 20th with a final 2:00.43.

Liam Calhoun '26 led another pack through the 5k race, taking second place on his own as he ran a personal best 14.54.78. Third place went to Alex Kermath '26 as he ran a 14:59.82, a personal best. In sixth, Noah Mahoney '27 ran a 15:10.03, another personal-best time. And 11th went to Aidan Ward '24, running a top-career time of 15:21.36.

Carlo Fedolfi '27 placed in both the 100m and the 200m. In the 100m, Fedolfi ran a 11.51 for 17th, and a 23.59 in the 200m for 16th place.

In the 1500m, Nate Fogarty '25 took fifth place, running a 4:00.13.

The Wesleyan 4x100 relay team of Jerry Gong '27, Patrick Schechtman-Taylor '26, Harry Kim '25, and Fedolfi placed fifth with a combined 44.43 time.

Anish Visht '24 was sixth in the pole vault with a top height of 4.10m.

Josh Ng '27 placed 12th in the long jump with a distance of 6.21m. Gong placed 14th at 6.00m.

In the shot put, Javier Orelanna '25 threw for 13.57m, good for fourth place. Rami Hayes-Messenger '26 finished in 15th with 11.74m.

Eli Liedtka '27 threw a personal-best distance in the discus, going for 38.16m, finishing in 10th place.

Leading the Cardinals in the hammer throw, Will Dollhopf '25 placed 12th at 38.42m. Hayes-Messinger placed 16th with 31.78m.

Hayes-Messinger also took seventh place in the javelin throw as well, gunning for 44.53m. Behind him in eighth place was Liedtka at 43.27m.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, April 20, at the Trinity Invitational.
