Women’s Squash Cleans Up with 9-0 Sweet of Haverford

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Clearing their first sweep of the 2025 portion of the season, the Wesleyan women's squash team pulled 3-0 match wins in all but one of their nine wins over Haverford College on Friday afternoon in the first match of the Wesleyan Round Robin from the Rosenbaum Squash Center.

Following a victory over No. 23 St. Lawrence last Saturday, the Cardinals were once again looking to come out on top and they did. Holding all but one match to 25 minutes or less, the Cardinals made sure to end the match against the Fords quickly and recoup for Saturday's match.

Portia Pliam '25 led the way from the #8 spot, blocking out Aman Hamdard 11-2, 11-4, 11-0 in just under 10 minutes. At #9, Caroline Caiati '28 swept Matilda Chartener with 11-6, 11-3, 11-2 game wins. Jaclyn Dichter '26 at #4 joined Caiati in the 13-minute match club and completed her sweep of Julia Currasco 11-2, 11-1, 11-6.

Collecting the final point for the Cardinals, Mira Bakshi '26 at #1 was forced to a fourth game by Joelle Phuah after taking games one and two. Phuah, down by two, defeated Bakshi 11-8 in game three, but Bakshi was able tor rebound and quickly took game four for a final 11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 11-8 match victory for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals collected 3-0 sweeps #2, #3, #5, #6, and #7.

The Wesleyan Round Robin continues Sunday, Jan. 19, when the Cardinals face Denison at 10 a.m.
