MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Wesleyan football junior running back
Angelo LaRose '27 was named the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the first career weekly honor for LaRose.
LaRose stepped into a leading role, serving as the Cardinals' primary back for the first time in his career, and he delivered with 218 rushing yards on 26 carries and one touchdown in Wesleyan's 31-28 triumph over Trinity that earned Wesleyan back-to-back NESCAC titles for the first time in team history. Coming into Saturday's contest with 290 career rushing yards, LaRose's 218 yards are the most rushing yards in a single game by a Cardinal since Kyle Gibson rushed for 244 against Hamilton on September 29, 2012. LaRose broke free from a Bantam defender and sprinted home to the end zone for a 78-yard touchdown in the second quarter and later picked up 65 yards on a handoff early in the third quarter.
The Cardinals (7-2) complete the 2025 season as NESCAC Champions for the third time in team history while this four-year senior class graduates as the winningest four-year senior class in team history with 27 career wins.
