MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Brandishing two clutch game-tying goals last week, Wesleyan men's soccer junior forward,
Joshwin Jennings '27, earns his first NESCAC Player of the Week honors as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon, Nov. 3.
Facing Conn. College on Tuesday night, Jennings netted the game-tying goal on a penalty kick in the 1-1 draw to close out the regular season. That crucial point for Wesleyan secured the # 2 seed for the Cardinals in the NESCAC Tournament. Jennings also scored the game-tying goal in a 3-2 come-from-behind win in the NESCAC Quarterfinal against #7 Amherst. With the Cardinals trailing 2-1 with under 10 minutes to play, Jennings scored from just outside the box with 9:18 remaining. In the final minute, Jennings initiated the action that led to teammate
Aiden Londergan's game-winner with just 14.2 seconds left on the clock. The win propelled the Cardinals into the NESCAC Semifinals for the first time since 2015.
The weekly honor is the fourth for the men's program this season. He joins teammates
Riley Harvey '29,
Mathis Blanc '26, and
Aiden Londergan '27.
The Cardinals will face #5 Conn. in the NESCAC semifinal at Tufts in Medford, Mass., with kickoff at 1 p.m.
