Portia Pliam '25,
Sydney Smith '25, and
Rachel Matamoros G'25 prior to the match on Senior Day.
The Cardinals won games in three of the nine varsity matches against the Ephs, with Pliam giving Anika Kakarla all she could handle in the #8 position of the lineup. Pliam dropped the first game 11-5 before battling back to win the second game 11-8. Kakarla took the third game 11-8, but Pliam forced a decider as she triumphed in the fourth game 11-9. In the decisive fifth game, it was Kakarla who came out with a 11-2 win, taking the 3-2 win in a match that lasted 44 minutes.
Both
Mira Bakshi '26 and
Avika Pande '26 won games in the #1 and #2 spots, respectively. Bakshi won the third game 11-5 against Melanie Wang in a four-game defeat while Pande won the opening game 11-7 in her 3-1 loss to Sophia Koehler.
Leandra Sze '26 won 22 total points in her 3-0 loss to Nora Brant at #7 while
Katherine Risden '28 won 21 points at #6 against Naomi Jefferson-Sambanis.
The Cardinals close out the season next weekend in Philadelphia with the CSA Team Championships from February 28 through March 2. Wesleyan is coming off a run to team's first-ever Walker Cup (C Division) title at the CSA Team Championships last season.
