MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan softball team continued to rack in the postseason honors as a team record six Cardinals were named All-Region 1 by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, as announced on Friday afternoon. The six All-Region selections leads all NESCAC teams and is tied for fourth-most nationally across all of NCAA Division III.

Wesleyan littered the All-Region First Team with three selections as pitcher/outfielder Abby Orso G'25, pitcher Jacelyn Lees '28, and designated player/pitcher Isabella Secaira-Cotto '25 were all on the list. Making the All-Region Second Team is second baseman Molly Lennon '26 and shortstop Waverly Smart '27 while outfielder Rebecca Cassel-Siskind '26 was named All-Region Third Team. Orso closes out her career as a three-time All-Region selection, making the First Team as a sophomore at Colby in 2022 and again on the Second Team in her senior year as a Mule in 2024. Secaira-Cotto and Lennon were both named Third Team All-Region last year, as this is their second career All-Region nod, while Lees, Smart, and Cassel-Siskind each make the list for the first time in their respective careers.

Orso was dominant in her lone season as a Cardinal, coming to Middletown for a graduate year, posting a 1.85 ERA in 110 innings with 110 strikeouts, going 10-6 with a 1.04 WHIP and .161 batting average against. She threw 11 complete games and had six shutouts. Her 1.85 ERA is a career-best while she threw just the second no-hitter in team history. Orso also added significant value at the plate, finishing as the team-leader in batting average (.396), on-base (.434), slugging (.656), and triples (six) while adding 23 RBI, four doubles, and three home runs.

Lees was outstanding in her first collegiate season, posting a 14-2 record with 1.60 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 100.1 innings. She struck out 62 batters and walked only 13 while throwing 10 complete games with six shutouts. Lees led the nation in ERA for the first month of the season and ranked second in the NESCAC in ERA and third in wins.

Secaira-Cotto closes out her career as a two-time All-Region player, finishing with a career year at the plate while several of her stats in the circle are also career-bests. She hit a.325 at the plate with 39 hits, five home runs, and 29 RBI, all of which are career-highs, while adding eight doubles to give her a career-best .533 slugging percentage. She also made 13 appearances (seven starts) in the circle and had the best ERA of her career at 1.52 in 46 innings.

Each of those numbers are new career-bests for Lennon who has been a three-year starter for the Cardinals at second base. She tied for third in the NESCAC in runs, triples, and homers.

Joining Lennon on the Second Team All-Region list is Smart who dazzled in the field all season at shortstop. In her second full year as the everyday shortstop for Wesleyan, Smart posted a .931 fielding percentage with just nine errors in 131 total chances. At the plate, Smart hit .240 for the season with 10 stolen bases but really thrived in NESCAC play as she hit .327 with a .389 on-base percentage in 18 regular season conference games.
