Lane and Karwoski Earns NFCA Region One Coaching Staff of the Year Honors

The Cardinals wrapped up a sensational 2025 campaign, finishing as the NESCAC runner-up

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan softball coaching staff of head coach Jen Lane and assistant coach Jill Karwoski were selected as Region One Coaching Staff of the Year, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Wednesday afternoon. The Cardinals' staff is now eligible for the ATEC/NFCA Division III National Coaching Staff of the Year award, which will be announced on June 11. Leading the Cardinals to a host of team record in 2025, Lane and Karwoski were previously recognized as the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year. The Cardinals' 29-12 record is a new single-season team record for wins, easily surpassing the previous record of 24 set back in 2010 by the NESCAC title-winning squad. The team's .707 win percentage is another single-season record as is the 12 NESCAC regular season wins. Wesleyan won the Little Three Championship for the first time since 2013 and just the third time overall, sweeping both Amherst and Williams for the first time in team history.
 
The Cardinals qualified as the #3 seed in the NESCAC Tournament and went on to defeat Bates 4-2 in the Quarterfinal round before defeating Bowdoin 4-3 in the Semifinals, advancing to the NESCAC Championship game for the fourth time in team history and first since 2010.
