MIDDLETOWN, CT. - The 19
th ranked Wesleyan women's squash team closed the Wesleyan Round Robin weekend with a 6-3 victory over No. 21 Denison University on Sunday morning, capping a 2-0 weekend at the Rosenbaum Squash Center. Wesleyan advances to 8-3 while Denison falls to 5-3.
RESULTS
The Cardinals made quick work of the Big Red, dominating on home court in standard fashion. The lineup boasted five 3-0 sweeps.
At #2,
Avika Pande '26 swept Amelia Keng but was taken to extra points in set three. Pande cleared the match with 11-6, 11-6, 12-10 final scores.
Aanya Anand '26 saw an end to Helena Fournaris, running 11-3, 11-4, 11-4 set wins at #3.
DaNerah Chisholm gave
Penelope Furnas '27 a run for her money at #6, taking Furnas to extra points but Furnas was undeterred and finished her sweep at 12-10, 11-5, 11-7.
Katherine Risden '28 held off Madeleine Ruggie with 11-7, 11-6, 11-7 set wins at #5. Nicole Smith was no match for
Ellie Tiedemann '28 at #9 as Tiedemann capped the lineup with wins at 11-8, 11-6, 11-7.
Forced to an extra set at #6,
Leandra Sze '26 rallied three set wins in a row for the 3-1 match win, defeating Kate Manderlink 9-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-3 after Manderlink held an initial lead.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Jan. 23, for the opening rounds of the College Squash Association Individual Championships.
