MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The first competition of the new year was a successful one for the Wesleyan women's swimming & diving team as the Cardinals defeated Babson 203-91 in a dual meet on Saturday from the Webster Family Natatorium. Wesleyan improves to 2-3 while the Beavers fall to 5-3-1 on the season.
The Cardinals dominated the day, earning first place finishes in 13-of-16 events while
Zoe Kuhn '26,
Sara Bohacek '26, and
Elena Baird '26 each won two individual events while
Ella Hall '28 swept both diving competitions.
- Wesleyan opened the day with a win in the 400 medley as Jacqueline Constantine '28, Bohacek, Anne Conway '26, and Kuhn combined to finish in 4:06.90, just less than five seconds behind Babson's top relay team.
- Baird landed her first of two wins on the day in the 1000 free (11:11.69) while she added a win in the 500 free (5:27.88) later in the afternoon.
- James LaCroix '27 posted first place in the 200 free, clocking in at 2:01.35.
- Constantine edged out Julia Netishen in the 50 back, as the Cardinal sophomore touched the wall in 28.71 seconds, taking first place by 0.12 seconds.
- Wesleyan had swimmers place 1st through 4th in the 50 breast, with Bohacek leading the way at 30.91 seconds.
- Kuhn was the top finisher in both the 50 free (25.17 seconds) and 100 free (56.08).
- The diving competitions saw Hall win the 1-meter with a score of 227.03 and she added a win in the 3-meter with a score of 235.13.
- Summer DeWitt '29 won the 200 back by more than two full seconds, clocking in at 2:14.48.
- Izzy Paez '26 held off Tuana Turhan in the 50 fly, winning with a time of 27.24 seconds, with Turhan finished just 0.07 seconds behind in second place.
- Bohacek's second win on the day came in the 200 breast, with the senior clocking in at 2:37.36.
The Cardinals are back in action on Thursday, January 15 with a trip to Trinity for a dual meet at 4 PM.
