BOSTON, MA. – The Wesleyan men's track and field team broke a 27-year-old record in the 4x400m relay over the weekend as Wesleyan fielded runners at both the Boston University Valentine Invitational and the Tufts University Cupid Challenge, turning in several top performances.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Setting a new school record in the men's indoor 4x400m relay, Reese Connors '29, Jack Park '29, Steve Paul '28, and Alex Hofmann '29 combined on a final time of 3:22.61, breaking a 27-year-old record in the event. Set in 1999, Dan Beaudette, David Golden, Ryan Akers, Mark Olschefskie held the previous record of 3:24.30.
• Connors placed 18^th in the 200m, clocking in at 22.07.
• The Valentine mile saw Liam Calhoun '26 placed 173^rd, crossing the finish line at 4:12.54. He is a second removed from the school record.
• Noah Mahoney '27 featured at Tufts in the 3000m, placing second with a final time of 8:32.37.
• In the 1000m, Emmett Leachman '29 placed fifth at 2:25.74. Hyatt Hicks '28 took sixth in the 600m, running a 1:27.37.
• Seventh place in the 800m went to Ben Taffet '26 with a final 2:00.34. August Doetsch '29 placed eighth at 2:00.38. Zach Allen '27 ran the mile and placed seventh as he finished with a final 4:25.01.
• Leading the field events, Elias Warner '28 placed eighth in the shot put open, throwing for 12.50m.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Feb. 20, when they take on the Springfield Triangle Classic.
