MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Senior forward
Fritz Hauser '26 of the Wesleyan men's basketball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is Hauser's first career POW honor while he becomes the third different Cardinal in the past five weeks to earn the NESCAC's POW award.
Hauser played the game of his career on Sunday, draining three straight 3-pointers in the opening two minutes of the game en route to a career-high 30-point performance in Sunday's 83-61 home win over Bates. Hauser went 11-for-18 from the floor and 8-for-13 from three, finishing just one made 3-pointer away from matching the single-game program record. The 30-point showing easily eclipsed Hauser's previous career-high of 21 points, which he had scored twice previously.
The Cardinals (17-5, 7-1 NESCAC) are back in action at home this weekend as Wesleyan hosts Bowdoin on Friday (7 PM) and Colby on Saturday (3 PM) for the final week of regular season play.
