MEDFORD, Mass. – Competing for the first time outdoors in nearly two years, the Wesleyan men's track and field team took third place out of four teams on Sunday at the Tufts Quad Meet. The Jumbos claimed first place with 239.5 points while Trinity took second (132 points), Wesleyan finished third (124.5) and Connecticut College placed fourth (98).
Highlights
- Both of Wesleyan's event victories on the day came in sprints as Christian Denny '22 topped a field of six in the 100m with a personal-best time of 11.11 seconds
- The other victory for the Cardinals came in the 110m hurdles as Mason Martell '24 scored a win in his collegiate debut, clocking in at 16.26 seconds to top a tightly contested group of three hurdlers
- Kyron Roberts '21 posted a time of 50.92 seconds in his debut performance in the 400m this season, good enough for third place in a field of 14 competitors
- Wesleyan littered the 5000m leaderboard with Cardinals placing second through sixth including Miles Aronow '22 (15:33.57, 2nd), Owen Rogers '24 (15:36.95, 3rd), Aidan Ward '24 (15:38.35, 4th), Will Ratner '22 (15:40.74, 5th) and Aidan Jelveh '24 (15:41.76, 6th)
- The Cardinals gave the host Tufts a good fight in the 4x400m relay as Roberts, Aaron Foote '24, Martell and Ethan Walker '22 clocked in at 3:26.99 which was under two seconds behind the Jumbo's relay team
- Noah Olsen '22 was just 0.03m off his personal-best in the high jump as he posted 1.85m on Sunday which was good enough for third out of four competitors
- Connell Oberman '22 performed well in the field events as he placed second out of eight in the discus with a throw of 35.73m while he was third in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 33.51m
- In the javelin, Wesleyan saw James Giokaris '24 toss 41.18m in his collegiate debut to take second while Olsen threw 37.55m to take third

Wesleyan is back in action on Saturday, April 24 with the Cardinals set to face the same three teams (Trinity, Conn. College and Tufts) but this time the meet will be held at Trinity in Hartford.
