HARTFORD, Conn. – On what was a blistery Sunday morning on the Connecticut River, the Wesleyan men's crew team had a strong showing in their season debut, placing second overall out of 18 teams in the men's open 8.
The Cardinals sandwiched themselves between Tufts and Trinity, boats that finished second and third, respectively, at the D3 IRA Championships last season. Wesleyan's first varsity 8 boat crossed the line in 11:37.81 to land the second place finish. Tufts was victorious at 11:23.72 while the Bantams placed third with a time of 11:42.93.

Two more Wesleyan boats featured in the men's open 8, with the second varsity boat placing eighth overall with a time of 12:03.42. The third Cardinal varsity boat clocked in at 12:43.45, good enough for 13
th place.
Wesleyan next heads to Boston for the Head of the Charles on October 21-23.
