SOUTHWEST HADLEY/BELCHERTOWN, Mass. – Wesleyan men's golf competed in the Blazer Invitational in Massachusetts over the weekend. The first round was played at the Ledges Golf Club in Southwest Hadley, while the second round was played at Coldspring Country Club in Belchertown, Mass. Wesleyan was one of 11 schools competing over the weekend, placing 5
th with a team score of 658 (+86).
Wesleyan had an impressive showing over the weekend, with three of their five golfers placing in the top 20 on the individual leaderboard. Leading the team was
Jacob Fain '23 (76-84-160). Fain came out with an impressive first round of play, which placed him in the top 10 after Saturday. He then shot an 84 at the Coldspring Country Club to finish with a score of 160 (+17), helping guide Wesleyan to a top five finish.
The most impressive round of golf played by a Cardinal at Ledges Golf Club belonged to
Fisher Hirsch '26 (74-88-162). His score of 74 through Saturday was tied for the 6
th best score at Ledges Golf Club. Hirsch finished with an 88 at 162. His score of (+19) was good for a t-19
th finish in the individual rankings for the weekend.
The 3
rd top 20 finisher for the Cardinals was Zachary Liu '26 (79-84-163). Liu's 84 at Coldspring Country Club in the second round was tied for the best score of the day for the Cardinals. He finished with a score of 163 (+20) placing him t-19
th in the final rankings.
The final two golfers for Wesleyan were
Daniel Kraft '23 and
Owen Cannizzo '24. Kraft (82-93-175) put together a good first round at Ledges Golf Club that put him in good position heading into the second round at Colspring Country Club. Cannizzo (90-91-181) had similar scores at both golf courses, leading him to a +38 on the weekend. Kraft finished with a +32 that placed him tied for 33
rd while Cannizzo ended with a +38 which was good for t-40
th.
Wesleyan returns to action on October 19
th where they will compete in the Mitchel Invitational in Groton, Connecticut.
