MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's swimming & diving team captured first place finishes in five events on Monday night in a dual meet against No. 16 ranked Amherst. In terms of team scoring, the Cardinals (0-3) fell by a score of 181.5-113.5 to the Mammoths (2-0).
A pair of first-years impressed for the Cardinals as
Zoe Kuhn '26 tallied two first place finishes while Sara Bohaceck had two runner-up results and
Izzy Paez '26 raced to a first place finish in the 100 fly.
Kuhn started her night with a win in the 200 free event, touching the wall with a time of 1:55.09 to defeat Amherst's Jess Gordon by 0.73 seconds. Kuhn also placed first in the 500 free, finishing in 5:17.26 to top a field of eight competitors.
Bohacek opened her night in the 50 breast, touching the wall in a photo finish with Katie Hoffman of Amherst, as both of them clocked in at 31.73 seconds. Her second runner-up finish of the night came in the 100 breast as she touched in 1:08.75 in a field of eight racers.
Paez also took down a first place result as the rookie was the top finisher in the 100 fly, finishing a full two seconds faster than the runner-up as she timed in at 58.20 seconds.
Lydia Brutvan '25 recorded the fifth first place finish for Wesleyan, taking the top spot in the 100 IM with a time of 1:05.35. In the final event of the night, the Cardinals' 400 free relay team of Kuhn, Bohacek,
Izzy Pennington '24 and Anne Conway '26 placed first in an all-Wesleyan field, clocking in at 3:42.66.
Another relay team that showed well was the 200 medley as Pennington, Bohacek, Paez, and Kuhn combined for a second place showing, landing the runner-up result with a time of 1:50.04.
Wesleyan has some time off before hosting the CT Cup on December 3-4 from the Webster Family Natatorium.
