WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Wesleyan men's golf team closed out the regular season over the weekend, placing seventh out of nine teams at the Williams Invitational hosted at the Taconic Golf Club. The host Williams won the tournament by two strokes over Middlebury.
Ambrose Koo '23 was consistent all weekend, carding back-to-back 78's (+14 for the weekend) to finish the weekend with a Top 20 finish (tied for 18
th) out of 58 competitors in the player leaderboard. Koo managed his impressive finish with three birdies (two on Sunday in round 2) but mostly through steady play as he recorded 10 pars on Saturday and nine on Sunday.
Owen Cannizzo '24 was second-best on the weekend for Wesleyan as the sophomore went 78-83 for a +19. Cannizzo posted a team-leading four birdies, including three on Saturday (all occurring in a four-hole span), as he had a solid showing in the two-round tournament.
Jacob Fain '23 went 79-82-161 for a +19, finishing in a tie with Cannizzo for 33
rd place in the player leaderboard. Fain finished with nine pars on Sunday while he recorded eight on Saturday with two birdies in his opening round.
Aryaman Himatsingka '24 recorded an 80-86 for a +24 for the weekend, recording three birdies in the two rounds combined.
Daniel Kraft '23 rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals with an 82-86 for +26 on the weekend.
Wesleyan rounds out the season next weekend with the NESCAC Championships which will be held at the Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford, New York.
