AMHERST, MA – The Wesleyan women's track and field team competed in the Amherst Spring Fling Saturday morning through the afternoon. They had two first place finishers in the invitational to go along with a handful of top three finishers. This invitational did not keep track of team score, and only recorded individual results.
The two first place finishers for the Cardinals were
Grace Devanny '23 and
Miranda Graves '23. Devanny finished first in the 400m dash with a time of 55.68, which was nearly three seconds faster than the 2
nd place finisher. Graves took first in the 5000m run with a blistering time of 18:08.28 which topped 2
nd place by 40 seconds.
Wesleyan also had three more competitors take top three finishes in
Augusta Burhans '23,
Becky Velie '22, and
Mia Clark '25. Burhans finished 3
rd in the 200m dash with a time of 26.75. Velie took 3
rd in the 1500m run clocking in at 4:45.56 which was less than a second off from 2
nd place. Lastly, Clark impressed in the 5000m run with a time of 18:49.79 which was good for 2
nd, trailing only her teammate
Miranda Graves.
Rounding out the Cardinals with top four finishes are:
Gabby Harris '23 (4
th in 100m, 12.72),
Sarah Schlosberg '25 (4
th in long jump, 5.16m), and Mallory Elliot '23 (4
th in high jump 1.47m).
Wesleyan returns to action on April 15
th where they will compete in the Silfen Invite hosted by Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut.
