BOSTON, MA. - The Wesleyan women's track & field team competed in Boston at the Valentine Invitational over the weekend. The Valentine Invitational consisted of a plethora of athletes from all three divisions and spanned from February 10
th to the 11
th. They had a handful of quality performances by competitors, including a 19
th place finish in the distance medley relay.
George Lepska '25 started things off for the Cardinals by competing in the 800 meters. The sophomore runner crossed the line at 1:54.34 which was good for 122
nd out of 328 competitors who finished the event. His time was less than a second off from the school record of 1:53.92 that was set by Stirling Ince in 1992. He was joined in the 800 meters by
Luke Consolati '25. Consolati finished in 292
nd, finishing at 2:00.86.
Liam Calhoun '26 was one of two Cardinals to compete in the Mile Run. The first-year runner was able to place 263
rd out of 432 runners in the field that completed the mile coming in with a time of 4:15.33. He was joined in the race by teammate
Nate Fogarty ''25. Fogarty ran a 4:27.11 mile that slotted him 410
th among the 432 competitors.
The last distance runner for the Cardinals to compete was
Owen Rogers '23 who ran the 5000 meters. Rogers came in 87
th out of 94 runners who finished the race with a time of 15:15.13. The Cardinals also had a distance medley relay team compete in the invitational. The team consisted of Calhoun, Consolati, Lepska, and Fogarty who finished 19
th of 30 teams (10:08.88).
The Wesleyan men's track and field team will return to competition next weekend, February 18
th where they will compete in the Brown University Invite in Providence, Rhode Island.
