MEDFORD, Mass. – Several key performances from the Cardinals' throwing contingent highlighted the day for the Wesleyan men's track & field team competing at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday. In a team scored event, Wesleyan accumulated 17 points to finish ninth out of nine teams.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was
Javier Orellana '25 who threw 13.84m, just 0.05m off his season-best, to land a fifth place finish in the shot put out of 31 throwers.
Rami Hayes-Messinger '26 turned in a great effort, throwing a personal-best 12.66m, which was good enough for eighth place in the same event.
In the weight throw,
Will Dollhopf '25 impressed with a sixth place finish out of 22 competitors, throwing a personal-best 13.96m, easily besting his previous-best of 12.92m from the Wesleyan Indoor Invite on December 9.
The track events saw
Kyle Roshankish '24 post third place, the highest finishing place for any Cardinal in any event on the day, in the 200m as the junior finished in 23.04 seconds. Roshankish followed that up with a team-leading 11
th place showing in the 400m with a time of 52.37 seconds.
Bruce Lenes '26 landed a Top 10 result out of 20 runners in the 1000m, as the first-year clocked in at 2:35.55.
Alex Geula '25 placed 10
th overall in the 600m, running the event in 1:26.81.
Alex Kermath '26 took 14
th place in the mile, crossing the line in 4:25.72.
Next up for Wesleyan is a trip to the Ocean Breeze Invite on Friday, February 10.
