MIDDLETOWN, CT. – The Wesleyan men's track & field team competed in their first home meet of the outdoor season, competing against 10 other institutions on The Andersen Track Sunday morning through the afternoon. A plethora of Cardinals showed out with 20 top-10 finishes, including a victory in the 3000 meter from
Alex Kermath '26 who finished with a time of 8:42.65.
The Cardinals shined in the middle-distance and sprint events, finishing with four top 10 finishes in the 800 and a top half finish in the 200 and 400 meters.
Sam Musto '24 was the lone Cardinal to finish in the top half of the field in the 200m with a time of 23.69 that placed him 17
th out of 42 competitors.
Jonah Rosenthal '25 had Wesleyan's first top 10 finish, placing 10
th out of 21 in the 400m (53.88). The Cardinals really showed out in the 800m, with all four of their runners finishing in the top eight.
Luke Consolati '25 led the way by finishing in 2
nd at 2:02.82 followed by
Alex Geula '25 (3
rd, 2:03.17),
Rob D'Aquila '26 (4
th, 2:03.55), and
Liam Scully '26 (8
th, 2:10.59).
Nick Carulli '23 was the only Wesleyan competitor in the 110 meter hurdles, claiming 2
nd, crossing at 15.42.
Wesleyan might have been even more impressive in the distance events, with six top-5 finishes and Kermath claiming the only individual victory of the day for the Cardinals in the 3000m.
Simon Chidley '25 (4:15.68) and
Owen Zinn-Keane '26 (4:26.80) both ran the 1500m claiming 8
th and 19
th respectively. The Cards showed out in the uncommonly run outdoor 3000m, claiming 1
st, 2
nd, 3
rd and 5
th out of the 12 competitors who completed the event. Kermath led the way with his time of 8:42.65 with
Owen Rogers '24 (8:51.04) behind him in 2
nd.
Will Wise '26 took third, crossing at 8:57.47 while
Philip Keith '25 took 5
th at 9:12.31. Wesleyan also shined in the 5000m as
Tony Patrinos '24 (15:50.37) placed 2
nd and
Bruce Lenes '26 (16:40.77) placed 3
rd out of the eight distance runners.
The Cardinals continued the theme of top 10 finishes Sunday with a handful more in the throwing events.
Javier Orellana ''25 led the way with a 3
rd place finish in the shot put (12.88 m) to go along with a 9
th place finish in the hammer throw (36.35 m).
Rami Hayes-Messinger '26 finished right behind Orellana in the shot put, coming in 5
th with a throw measuring 12.53 meters.
Will Dollhopf '25 and
James Giokaris '24 closed out the day for the Cardinals with a pair of top-10 finishes each. Dollhopf took 6
th in the discus (25.56 m) and 8
th in the hammer throw (37.72 m), while Giokaris placed 7
th in the hammer (37.85) and 8
th in the javelin (42.86 m).
Wesleyan men's track and field will compete again next weekend , April 1
st, where they will compete in the Tufts Snowflake Classic in Medford, Massachusetts.
